Check in advance the schedule with the hotel, the staff is wonderful and speaks English. And returns to the hotel from the same place at 7:15pm. Also, the hotel provides a shuttle to the city, departing at 7:25am and 9:50am to Puerta de Alcalá (also called Plaza de la Independencia), in downtown Madrid, few feet from Parque del Retiro. It is true that the hotel is retired from the downtown: (17 stops to Opera station -to visit the Royal Palace), but nothing major. The HH is awesome, I stayed in Madrid for six nights and spent one day just lounging and swimming on the hotel's swimming pool and resting my aching feet in their sauna. I then rode the train-shuttle T-4 to the airport and after only 4 stops I was at the airport to catch the HH shuttle outside terminal 4. Via internet I had bought in advance a 5 days unlimited use of metro/bus ticket, which I picked up at the Puerta de Atocha. 2013 I arrived into Madrid's Puerta de Atocha train station from Barcelona, on the Renfre AVE. Literary Quarter (Barrio de Las Letras) Hotels.
